There are many different types of instruments that are used for making various items of wood, steel, and other such materials. One of the most important of these is that of saws and the chain saws. These saws are used to cut through different materials to the sizes that are needed. To make sure that your chain saw is working well you should ensure that the chain saw parts are in good condition.

These parts are very important as without them your chain saw would not work well. The first part that you need to see about is that of the blade. The chain saw blade needs to be in a sharp and unbroken condition. The sharpness is to ensure that the blade can cut through any material it is used for. The serrated teeth of the blade must not be broken or damaged otherwise you will have some difficulty with cutting and sawing.

The next important chain saw parts section to be looked at is that of the motor. This is in many ways more important than that of the blade. Where the blade merely cuts objects the motor is the heart of this tool. If the motor breaks down you will need to find out what the problem is. There may be parts that will need replacing in the motor itself. You might have something jammed in the motor.

A problem may also develop with the ignition. This may lead to your not being able to work the chainsaw or in rare cases stop the chainsaw. As these are all problems that have the potential to occur it is best if you have an idea of the different chain saw parts that you can buy and install. For the blade of the chain saw if it is broken the only option you will have is to replace this blade.

There are numerous chain saw parts that you can buy for use with the motor of the saw. These parts will include mufflers, pistons, crankshafts, seals, and other motor parts. You will also need to look for chain saw parts to help the chain saw work the blade itself. The item that is used for moving the blade is that of a chain that resembles a bicycle’s wheel chain.

There are so many chain saw parts that you can buy for your chain saw. It may be hard at times to see what is really needed. At these times you should note down the type of chain saw that you have. Also you will need to find out (very carefully) what is broken or malfunctioning in the chain saw. If you can repair the parts the various chain saw parts that are available will provide you with all the materials that you require.

Getting chores done around your yard or summer cabin can be much easier with the help of a chain saw. But, that’s only true if you keep the chainsaw sharp. A dull chain saw not only slows down the work, but can be a very dangerous tool.

There are a number of different chain saw sharpeners on the market that will automatically sharpen the chain. Professional quality bench sharpeners, enthusiast level chain sharpeners, and handyman sharpeners. Each of these has their advantages and disadvantages, including price, portability, ease of use, and accuracy.

Professional and enthusiast grinders sharpen the chain when it is off the saw. Guides hold the chain in perfect position while adjustments to edge angle and tilt angle are precisely set up. These systems are very fast and accurate, but of course you need to take your saw, or at least the chain, into your local saw sharpening shop.

The simplest, and in many cases the most practical sharpening tool is a simple hand held round file. You can also add a file guide and depth gauge guide to assist you. Consistency is the key to a sharp chain. The same number of strokes on every tooth, and the exact same direction of every stroke will lead to an extremely sharp chain saw.

There are several types of hand file guides. The simplest type attaches to the round file and allows you to watch the markings on the guide so that you maintain a consistent angle every time you stroke the file. Another type of file guide clamps to the bar and controls the movement of the round file over the teeth of the chain.

The round file needs to match the size of your chain. Most common chain saws should be sharpened with either 7/32 inch or 5/16 inch files. Most round files will last forever if you take care of them properly. Wrap them up before dropping them into your toolbox, and don’t use them for picking stones out of the logs.

You can pick up a good depth gauge at most hardware stores. This gauge should be set on top of the chain and used to control how much you need to remove from the guides after each sharpening. After several sharpenings the teeth on your chain will be lower than the guides. You need to take the guide height down to match the height of the teeth on your chain saw.

Supply chain management (SCM) is the process of planning, organizing, implementing, and controlling the operations of the supply chain for the purpose of satisfying the customers’ needs as efficiently as possible. SCM is responsible for all the storage and movements of raw materials, work-in-process inventory, and finished goods inventory from point of origin to point of consumption.

A supply chain network of an organization includes the location as well as movement decisions in respect of procurement of raw materials and other inputs, transformation of these materials into intermediate and finished products, and the distribution of these finished products to customers. With effective and efficient Supply Chain Management (SCM) company can improve the way it finds the raw components it needs to make a product or service and deliver it to customers. SCM is significant for both service and manufacturing organizations, although the complexity of the chain may vary greatly from industry to industry.

Supply chain management includes five basic activities: planning and strategy formulation, sourcing, transformation process, delivery, and at last handling customer complaints and excess stocks.

Planning and strategy formulation:

Company needs a strategy for managing all the resources that go toward meeting customer demands. Supply chain planning is carried out at corporate level as well as at operation level. Strategy formulated at corporate level is for long term horizon and includes decision on main objectives of supply chain in terms of customer service, formulating policies, designing supply chain, strategic alliances, etc. Operational level planning is for short term, and focuses on activities over a day-to-day basis. The effort is to effectively and efficiently manage the product flow in order to fulfill the strategic goals.

Sourcing:

First generate the list of suppliers supplying the required inputs, evaluate each of them on the basis of relevant criterion as price, quality, delivery time, etc. Now choose the best supplier. Develop a set of pricing, delivery and payment processes with suppliers and make efforts for monitoring and improving the relationships. Also make sure the proper management of inventory of goods and services received from suppliers, including receiving shipments, verifying them, moving them to manufacturing facilities and authorizing supplier payments.

Transformation process:

It includes Scheduling the activities necessary for production, testing, packaging and preparation for delivery and also ensuring the smooth production, high quality levels and improved worker productivity.

Delivery:

This part of supply chain is many times referred as logistics by many companies. It includes coordinating the receipt of orders from customers, developing a network of warehouses, arranging for pick carriers to move products to customers and setting up an invoicing system to receive payments.

Handling customer complaints and excess stocks:

This part of supply chain deal with the problems that originate while carrying out the above activities like receiving defective and excess products back from customers, Wrong order placement, delay in receiving goods, conflicts with suppliers, etc.

Integration of Supply Chain Activities

Traditionally, planning, purchasing organizations, manufacturing, marketing and distribution along the supply chain is operated independently. These activities are carried out by different departments or organizations and each have their own objectives and these are often conflicting. For example, Marketing’s objective of high customer service and maximizing sales revenue conflict with manufacturing and distribution goals. Many manufacturing operations are designed to achieve lower costs with small consideration for distribution capabilities and inventory levels. Such conflict makes it necessary to integrate all the functions of supply chain network. Coordination between these functional organizations in the chain is a key to attain a balanced supply chain network.

Major Supply Chain Decisions:

There are four major decision areas related to supply chain management: location, production, inventory, and transportation.

Location

Deciding on the location of manufacturing facilities, storage points, and sourcing points is first step in creating a supply chain. These should be taken carefully with due consideration of the long term plans of the organization. The location of facilities further guide management about how to reach customer market also it has a great impact on revenue, cost, and level of service. These decisions are normally based some of these factors: proximity to raw material source or customer market, production costs, taxes, tariffs, duties and duty drawback, transportation costs, production limitations, etc.

Production

Decisions like what to produce, capacity of plant, production scheduling, equipment maintenance, workload balancing, quality control, etc. These decisions also have a great impact on the revenues, costs and customer service levels of the firm.

Inventory

Inventory includes raw material, semi-finished and finished goods. They can be in-process between locations. The primary purpose is to buffer against any uncertainty that might be in the supply chain. Decision relating to inventory should consider carrying/holding cost, ordering cost, and opportunity cost. As inventory cost constitutes the big part of the total cost, it is critical decision in supply chain operation. It also includes the determination of the optimal levels of order quantities and reorder points, and setting safety stock levels, at each stocking location. These levels are vital as they are primary determinants of customer service levels.

Transportation:

These decisions are closely linked to the inventory decisions, as the decision are based on trade-off between cost involved using the particular mode of transportation and the indirect cost of inventory associated with that mode. For example air shipments may be fast, reliable, and requires lesser safety stocks, they are expensive. While other modes like rail and road are though less costly but requires maintaining high level of safety stock due to high level of uncertainty involved. Also the customer service levels and geographic location influence such decisions.

Chain saws are wonderful tools when they are cutting properly. Most people know that when a chain saw gets dull it does not cut very easily, and in fact can become quite dangerous. But, there are a number of other problems that can cause your chain saw to cut poorly. Most of these issues can be traced back to improper sharpening procedures or poor maintenance.

When you’re cutting with your chain saw, if it cuts crooked or at an angle this is generally an indication that the teeth have been improperly filed. Either they were filed at the wrong angle, or every tooth was not filed the same amount and with the same pressure. If filing is not the cause of a chainsaw pulling to one side or the other, then it could be the bar or the sprocket at the far end of the bar are in poor condition and need maintenance or straightening.

If you have a newly sharpened chain saw and it dulls quickly, usually this is caused by thin cutting edges resulting from too much file pressure or low angle when sharpening your chain saw. Your chainsaw will need to be refiled using less pressure, as well as lowering the angle of attack and checking the height of the depth gauges.

If the chain grabs and cuts rough the saw sharpener probably induced a forward hook on the teeth as a result of too much pressure from the top of the file. A good indication that the depth gauges are set incorrectly is when the chain digs too far into the wood. You will need to lower the height of the depth gauges in most cases. If you detect overheating of the chain you may not have enough bar oil, or the saw sharpener created a backslope on the teeth during the last sharpening.

Drive link problems on the chain can result in severe problems like the chain jumping off the bar. Incorrect chain tension can cause this, and you may have to replace bent drive links on your chain. Also, excessive chain chatter can be caused by improper sprocket fit, and result in front or back peened drive links.

Whenever you identify these kinds of cutting problems with your chain saw you should immediately remove the bar and chain from the saw and inspect carefully. There are usually only a couple of nuts to remove the chain and separate the bar from the saw. This will allow you to inspect the parts for dangerous defects and keep your saw in good condition.

Jewellery is desired and coveted by all women. However, elaborate necklaces are often expensive and hence a simpler option like the ladies chain has become quite popular. The ladies chain are not only affordable, but also go well with any attire and any occasion. Thus it seems the best choice to most women, especially those who work.

If you think ladies chains to be fragile, and hence are hesitant to buy, then you couldn’t be more off the mark. Platinum ladies chain are by far the strongest and most durable, because of the metal. They are also the most delicate in appearance due to its pliability. Platinum also gives the wearer an added feeling of rarity and fragility, making the chain gorgeous. Gold is another less expensive and good looking option. Gold ladies chain are in fact quite popular since they look elegant without much ado and are extremely affordable. However, ladies chains of pure gold will not be as strong as that of mixed gold. Hence you might have to settle for 18K or 20K instead of 24K. Even cheaper are white gold and sterling silver. Ladies chain can also be made of different alloys, in which case the chain will be less expensive than the pure metals.

Buying ladies chains doesn’t mean you will end up with a plain, unexciting piece of jewelry. Ladies chain come in various patterns and designs. A chain can be flat, cylindrical or any other shape. It can have small or large links. It can have intricate designs. And buying a thin chain does not mean it will be weak. To ensure your chain remains strong and unbreakable, you need to check the links of the chain carefully for any chips or scratches. Ladies chains can also be double (two chains locked together) which look thicker and delicate at the same time. Ladies chains can also have links of different metals like gold and silver or gold and bronze. This makes a chain look very attractive. At times, going through a few websites and online catalogues gives you a good idea of what all you can find.

Apart from the office or a formal gathering, Ladies chains can make a fashion statement in many other ways. In fact due its simplicity, it can be turned into almost anything. Twisting two different chains together will give a great looking new chain. You can wear it as a bracelet or an anklet. You can wear different pendants or lockets with the same chain so add variety. You can string finger rings through your chain to make it casual. Two or more chains can be interlocked if you ask your jeweler and made into one long chain. There’s no end to how you can wear a chain!

In order that your chain stays as good as new, it needs to be cleaned and polished regularly in a way that suits its material and make. You must also ensure that the metals used as pure and certified, or else your chain will have little value.

A bicycle chain is known for failing at the worst time. This problem of a jumpy or jerky chain can be removed entirely, though, if you simply do some chain maintenance on it regularly. This means that you check your chain at least two times per month or after you ride it about 10 hours if you ride quite a bit. You also want to be sure to do a chain check if you have been riding in bad weather.

You should replace your chain if it is rusted, tight, worn out, or you have ridden more than 1000 miles on it. A new chain with 24 links should measure 12 inches and if it is too long even by 1/16 of an inch, then you want to replace it so that it does not damage the chain ring or sprocket. If you are replacing the chain rings or sprocket, then you need to go ahead and replace the chain so that you do not damage the new chain rings and sprocket.

The metal parts of the chain do not really stretch, but the chain does get longer because of the sleeves and pins wear and tear. Lubricating the chain regularly will help the chain to last longer. If you want to lubricate correctly, then you will want to put just a lubricant drop into each chain pin. This may take you a little time, but it will be well worth it when you increase the life of your chain.

Leave the lubricant on the chain for about 15 minutes and then wipe the excess off with a clean cloth. This will help to keep the chain from catching dirt and grime while riding. It will also keep your chain in tip-top condition.

If you need to clean your bicycle chain, then you can use a degreaser or dish soap. This is a great way to remove lubricant, grime, and grease to help your chain to work better. After you clean it, remember to lubricate it again. You should put the cleaner on the center of the cleaning cloth or sponge and then place it around the chain. By backpedaling, you should clean the chain sufficiently. Make sure that you rinse the rag each turn until you do not get any more dirt on it.

Leave the chain on the bicycle when you are cleaning it to keep it from becoming weaker. While you are getting the chain clean, then you can inspect it for any links that may be too tight. A tight chain can cause the chain to jump and jerk. If you find a link that is tight, then you can loosen it by flexing it between two points that are located at about give links away from the tight link. If you cannot loosen it, then you will have to replace the chain. Keeping your bike chain lubricated and clean will help it to last much longer and work much better.

If your chain seems to be making some noise and cleaning does not stop the noise, then you will have to replace it. If pedaling becomes difficult, then it will be time for a chain change as well. By paying attention to detail and maintenance, then you will have a bike chain that you can use for a long time.
